Family Freebies For Kids in June

Area libraries are offering a number of free activities in the coming weeks — including book bingo, a 'mad science' event, scavenger hunts and more.

It’s the start of June and the kids will soon be out of school. It’s time to fill those weekends and weekdays with fun and free activities.

Summer reading kicks off at all of our local Contra Costa libraries on June 9. Be sure to have your child sign up for the summer reading program, where your child will earn free prizes just for reading.

Prizes include passes to Lawrence Hall of Science and Chabot Science Center, plus coupons for pizza and a Togo’s sandwich. You can either stop by any library and pick up a sheet to mark summer reading, or you can simply go to www.ccclib.org to register your child online.

Just in time for Father’s Day, your child can make a keychain or “key keeper” for dad at Lakeshore Learning on June 16.
