Opinion: Don't Forget Rescued Treasures

Letter to the editor: Recycling story missed Walnut Creek thrift shop that benefits Community Concern for Cats.

Dear Editor:

I enjoyed your story on recycling, but you missed telling everyone about Rescued Treasures Thrift Shop in Walnut Creek located at 1270 Newell Ave., in San Miguel Center, one block east of Whole Foods, in the same shopping center as Casper's Hotdogs. We have a big store in the back where Tuesday Morning used to be.

Rescued Treasures Thrift Shop benefits Community Concern for Cats
, a cat rescue organization that has been around since 1986 helping cats in Contra Costa County. We rescue from the street and other unsafe places; rehabilitate cats and kittens with medical care, spay and neuter, foster care and adoption; and reduce the number of homeless kittens born each year to feral mothers through Trap-Neuter-Return programs.

We rely on the community to help us by bringing in their discarded furniture, collectibles, decor items, books, clothing and more to sell at our store and use the profit to pay for medicines, spay and neuters and other medical care costs for our cats.  Last year we moved our thrift shop from Pleasant Hill near K-Mart to Walnut Creek so people may not know where we are. So thank you for this opportunity to tell them.

Please look for cat adoptions sponsored by Community Concern for Cats every Saturday and Sunday at Petco in Walnut Creek, and Pet Food Express in Lafayette and Pleasant Hill from 1 to 4 p.m.  Our phone number is 925-937-3201.

Sincerely,

Billie Cummings
Volunteer foster parent

This place is the BEST! The best cause...The best prices... The friendliest staff...Fantastic selection...Quality items....close proximity to Caspers Hotdogs....FREE Parking. We miss them terribly from their old location. If you haven't been you should go. If you already visited their new store you should go back and buy something (or leave something instead). It is an easy way to give back to your community. I try to do it at least once a month.

This is a great place to shop for items you need at very low prices, including getting toys/etc for your cat(s)! I love supporting CC4C and love my 2 rescue kitties I got from CC4C!

Chem trails ... You tube..
inquiring mind June 15, 2013 at 02:22 pm
The trails I saw at you tube, while bigger than vapor trails, were still very puny compared to theRead More banner cloud formations I saw this, banners stretching straight from East to West (or vice versa) from one horizon to the other. May guess is that they were over 500 feet wide, and I'm still inclined to think the straight-line winds that made the derecho in the East pushed backwards a straight banner of visible water vapor (ie, clouds). Compare the physics to the x-rays that are pushed backwards when matter is sucked into the spiral of a black hole, a new discovery this week.

Thanks, Jim. I appreciate it. Hi Julio, As we all know, Even the late movie guru, Roger Ebert'sRead More fans, sometimes, did not agree with his assessment. This is the beauty of a filmic conversation. There is really no right or wrong. It is highly subjective. Even Rotten Tomatoes sometimes do not agree with Top Critics from around the world.
