8-Year-Old Girl Struck By Van In Lake Elsinore

The accident was reported about 12:50 p.m. on Spring Street, near Graham Avenue, according to sheriff's officials.

An 8-year-old girl was struck and injured Sunday in Lake Elsinore but was expected to fully recover.

Patch was first to arrive on scene at the crash, which was reported about 12:50 p.m. on Spring Street, near the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce building on West Graham Avenue.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ken Chaffin, the girl had just stepped out of her family's van and was clipped by another van.

"She's going to be fine," the sergeant told Patch. The girl was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, with a possible broken leg, he said.

"She's awake, coherent, talking. she seems to be doing well."

Westbound traffic was stopped on Spring Street -- at Graham Avenue -- for a short time, the sergeant said.

My kids know not to even open the door unless I'm there. Speedy recovery for the little one! Take good care.....

Hope the driver of the second van isn't too traumatized. I wonder....did this 8 year old step out into the second vans path? It doesn't say that anyone was cited or arrested. ??? Any way, its still a good reminder to instruct and watch your kids. }~)

I hope the little girl is okay, prayers going out to her! I NEVER let my son play in the street or even go in the street because of reasons like this!!! I hope this is a reminder to all the parents out there to keep an eye on your children at all times
