Alameda Man Arrested in $2 Million Pot Bust

Three men were arrested today in what San Leandro police describe as "an elaborate clandestine marijuana cultivation operation" spread over four locations. An Alameda man is among those arrested.

San Leandro police have arrested three men for allegedly running four illicit growing locations, two of them in San Leandro, in a bust that yielded 5,414 marijuana plants, 68 pounds of processed pot and $77,440. 

Police say the seized plants were worth over two million dollars on the street. They estimate that the processd pot was worth $150,000.

In custody are:

  • Howard Wong, 47 years of age, an Oakland resident. 
  • Shuqin Cai, 39 years of age, a San Francisco resident 
  • Laikuan Liang, 52 years of age, an Alameda resident 

Police say they obtained warrants to search the following locations:

  • 1600 block of 8th Ave, Oakland, Ca. 
  • 600 block of Montague, San Leandro, Ca. (Warehouse) 
  • 2300 block of Foley, Hayward Ca. (Warehouse) 
  • 1600 block of Factor Ave, San Leandro, Ca. (Warehouse) 

Police say the bust came down about 10:15 am today and culminated an investigation by the city's narcotics squad. 

Wong, Cai, and Liang were arrested for marijuana cultivation, police said. 

“This was an elaborate clandestine marijuana cultivation operation," said San Leandro police department spokesman Lt. Jeff Tudor.

Alcohol is good , only 75000 Die from it every years and thousands of families are destroyed , So they promote the poison on TV and radio . I do not see any difference between someome being drunk or being stoned , Oh yes there is alcohol destroy just about every organ , while pot has only a limited damage and it s Green . Anyone seen the video of the defense contractor in charge of security for our diplomat in Aganistan , cannot be more drunk . and the othe shoot himself with drug ...

I would much rather be a passenger in a car with someone that has been smoking pot, instead of with someone that has been drinking alcohol. How about you?
