Armed Robbers Target Pizza Delivery Man

A pizza delivery order Friday night was actually a ruse for robbery, Concord police reported.

One of two robbers was armed, apparently with a black semi-automatic handgun, Concord Police Sgt. Matt Morrissey said. The robbers got away with cash and three boxes of pizza.

Someone ordered a pizza from the Round Table Pizza at Olivera Crossing Shopping Center to a house about a mile away in the 2700 block of La
Salle Avenue. A pizza deliverer brought the pizza to the address given from
the order around 6 p.m.

The victim was sitting in the car when he was approached by two male suspects, one of whom was armed. They demanded money and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash and the three pizzas, Morrissey said.

No one was injured from the robbery, Morrissey said.

Witnesses told police the pair ran to a green Ford Escort and drove away.

The first suspect, believed to have been carrying a black semi-automatic handgun. He is described as a white or Hispanic man in his mid-twenties, standing about 5 foot 6 inches tall with a stocky frame. He was wearing
a black jacket and red baseball cap, Morrissey said.

An unarmed accomplice is described as a Samoan man in his early twenties with a thin, 6 foot 1 inch build and long, bushy hair. He was wearing a
black puffy jacket.

The delivery address was determined to be a vacant home and under
construction, Morrissey said.

The number the order was made from was not traceable and the
number the suspects left with Round Table for the order was traced to a
person who had no connection to a Friday night pizza order, Morrissey said.

Morrissey advised residents to be wary as "people do things like this" around the holidays.
