Early Morning Burglary at Tiffany's Thursday

A brazen smash-and-grab in the middle of downtown netted four burglars a few small pieces of jewelry, police say.

Four men backed a white pickup truck up to the doors of Tiffany's jewelry store on S. Main St. and Mt. Diablo Blvd. early Thursday morning, broke a window with hammers, and stole several small pieces of jewelry, according to Walnut Creek police and the Contra Costa Times.

The men then fled in a different car, leaving the white pickup truck behind. They were seen heading for Highway 24.

Police say most of the expensive jewelry was locked away.
