Auto Burglary Suspects Arrested Near Walnut Creek Hotel

Police say the two teenagers from Concord were breaking into cars

Two Concord teenagers were arrested near the Holiday Inn on Main Street late Monday night after police say they were seen breaking into cars.

The 19-year-old and 17-year-old suspects were booked on charges of auto burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

Authorities say an employee of the hotel called police at 11:15 p.m. to report two men with flashlights were looking into the windows of parked cars.

Officers arrived as the two men were leaving the parking lot. The 19-year-old was arrested without incident.

However, the 17-year-old ran off, jumped two barbed wire fences and hid in a nearby business. Officers surrounded the area and brought in a police dog. The teen was found hiding underneath a storage area, authorities said.

Police found two vehicles in the parking lot that had been burglarized. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners.

Police say it's unknown whether the two suspects have committed other burglaries. Anyone in the area whose car has been broken into is asked to call Walnut Creek police.
