A body found at the Upper San Juan Campground off the Ortega Highway Tuesday afternoon is being investigated as a possible suicide, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy confirmed.
The body was reported found to police shortly after 2 p.m., according to Deputy Albert Martinez.
Martinez said the investigation is ongoing.
The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been released.
The Upper San Juan Campground is located in the Cleveland National Forest, approximately 9 miles west of Lake Elsinore, directly off the Ortega Highway.
At press time, the Forest Service is reporting the campground closed.
There are no reports of road closures on the Ortega Highway.
