Suspicious Briefcase Clears Concord DMV

The Walnut Creek police bomb squad was called to the DMV office in Concord to determine if the briefcase was a threat.

The DMV field office in Concord shut down briefly Friday afternoon after a suspicious briefcase was spotted near a building entryway, a DMV spokeswoman said.

The abandoned briefcase was reported around 12:20 p.m., prompting California Highway Patrol officers to evacuate the office at 2070 Diamond Blvd., DMV spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez said.

The Walnut Creek police bomb squad arrived around 1:15 p.m. and after an evaluation, determined that the briefcase was not a threat.

Patrons were allowed back inside the DMV at 1:45 p.m.
