Burglar Arrested in Walnut Creek This Morning
Alfredo Rene Powell of Hayward was discovered in resident's living room.
A burglar discovered in the living room of a Walnut Creek home this morning has been arrested by Walnut Creek police.
The suspect - 22-year-old Alfredo Rene Powell of Hayward - ran from the house when confronted by the startled resident at approximately 6:11 a.m., according to WCPD Sgt. Steve Bertolozzi.
Officers said they found the suspect walking along the south curb of Ygnacio Valley Road a short distance from the burglary site and detained him. Powell was positively identified by the resident, who believes Powell gained entry into his residence through an unlocked patio door, according to police.

The resident told police he does not believe anything was stolen from within his residence.
Powell, who is on probation out of Alameda County for a previous offense, was arrested for residential burglary and violation of probation. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and booked.
