Woman Arrested in DUI Crash That Injured Three on I-680

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following the crash early Wednesday.

A 21-year-old San Leandro woman was arrested in a suspected alcohol-related crash that injured three people traveling in a van on southbound Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek early Wednesday.

Coreen Grob was arrested on a felony charge of driving under the influence, said California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Maguire. She was booked into County Jail in Martinez following the crash at about 12:40 a.m.

Maguire said the three injured people were riding in a 1990 Chevrolet Astro Van, driven by Tom Pham, 53, of San Jose. Pham was driving the van in the number four lane at about 60 mph.

About the same time, Grob was at the wheel of a 1998 Toyota Avalon, driving at "a high rate of speed," Maguire said. Just north of Livorna Road, the Avalon struck the rear of the van, causing the van to flip over and land back on its wheels.

The collision disabled the Camry and Grob brought it to a stop on the Livorna off-ramp. When officers contacted Grob, they determined she had been drinking, Maguire said.
