Creek Diva: A Barking Man & Unsecured Mercedes

Walnut Creek police reports from July 29 to Aug. 1 including an investigation that should start with known burglars who have a pool.

Sunday, July 29

No, El Camino! A driver of an El Camino was seen driving on the grass to set up for a party at Larkey Park at 7:20 a.m. He was cited for having a car in the park, according to Walnut Creek Police Department reports.

Heads up, Walnut Creek Farmers Market fans! A bike was stolen when an unknown subject cut a cable lock that was securing a Specialized Cross Trail bike. The theft occurred around 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. If you saw anything suspicious, please contact the WCPD.

Barking … man? A caller phoned police about a neighbor on the 1800 block of Lacassie Avenue at 3:26 p.m. The neighbor was “barking” on his patio for the past several hours. He settled down once police arrived.

Packing heat in Speedo? A juvenile was arrested on charges of brandishing a weapon at an apartment complex pool on Newell Hill Place at 10:59 p.m. He was released to his father.

Monday, July 30

Teen angst. Parents reported that their teenage daughter had run away from their home on Persimmon Road at 1:08 a.m. She had apparently gotten in trouble earlier for trying to sneak out of the house. She returned home a short time after. Police gave advice to both parents and the runaway.

Oops. A Mercedes SL500 CV, license plate 5GRS551, went missing after a manager of a body shop pulled the car out of the shop for the owner to pick up. The keys were left in the vehicle that was parked on the 1500 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard at 8:02 a.m.

Lost ring. A woman lost a diamond ring possibly at the Walnut Creek Yacht Club on the evening of the 28th.

Tuesday, July 31

Pool cleaner stolen. Aquarius Pool Supply on Mount Diablo Boulevard was broken into overnight. A front door was smashed and an expensive $1,500 electric pool cleaner was reported stolen.

Joy ride? Everett, Wash. readers (Creek Diva knows of a few!) have you seen a silver 2003 Honda Accord with a California license plate 6LTH638? A mother reported that her son stole the car on July 23 along with a few credit cards. The son might be in the Everett area, police reported.

Wednesday, August 1

Fraud. A pregnant woman allegedly used several fake $50 bills at three different businesses downtown this afternoon. One caller wrote down the description of the car and the license plate the woman fled in. An investigation is under way.

Happy hitcher. A man was “dancing in a circle while squirting water out of a bottle” on Ygnacio and Bancroft at 2:19 p.m. The man was contacted and he explained to the police that he was just hitchhiking.

Peeping Tom arrested. A man was arrested on charges of petty theft and peeping into the young women’s changing rooms at Broadway Plaza. The man allegedly was also taking photos while peeping.
