Lance and creek Diva, did you hear about the Contra Costa Times Editorial writer that was plagiarizing stories? Is this common in the print media world? Isn't it illegal? I haven’t read anything about it and am a little disappointed everyone seems to think it is no big deal.

WCPatcher That topic was raised in the comment stream of the last 'Where in Walnut Creek?' It's covered in http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_20344680/contra-costa-times-editorial-editorial-breached-public-trust I might add that, bad as the original sin was, I thought the CoCoTimes did a pretty good job of owning up. It's a short cut that has become easier to do with the cut-and-paste ease of better computer software. It's sad because plagiarism is such a waste. Nobody would have batted an eyelash if the Times had written an editorial correctly citing the LA Times and quoting a sentence or two from their editorial. Disclosure compels me to point out that many years ago I was an editor for a corporate predecessor of the Bay Area News Group, which operates the Contra Costa Times. - Lance Howland, editor, Walnut Creek Patch

WCPatcher, I've been out of town since last week so I had not heard that. I will catch up on the article and see what's been brewing.
