Creek Diva: Leaving The Tavern Packing Heat

Walnut Creek police reports from Dec. 17 to Dec. 20.

Saturday, December 17

Fare jumper. Does the last name Callahan ring a bell, readers? Reportedly, that is the last name of a man who bailed on a $100 cab fare from San Francisco. The man hopped a fence on the 2900 block of San Antonio Drive at 1:36 a.m. The cabbie returned on the 20th to the residence in hopes of being paid, but no success was reported.

Not so fast. A woman was passed out in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle on 1300 block of Locust Street at 2:29 a.m. She was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and was released to a sober adult.

Bah, humbug. A package was reported stolen from a porch on 2600 block of Dapplegray Lane this morning. An empty Amazon box was found nearby, without the Kindle inside. Hey Amazon, maybe it’s a good idea not to stamp “Kindle” on the outside of your mailing boxes!

False advertising. A solicitor informed a resident on Homestead and Walker Avenue that he was selling security systems “in partnership with the city of Walnut Creek” at 11:41 a.m. Readers, there is no such partnership!

Stolen condoms. Four juvenile females were seen allegedly stealing condoms from a store on Tice Valley Boulevard. Ladies, Planned Parenthood on Oakland Boulevard gives them out for free.

Staying at home. Creek Diva loves a nice pint and good adult conversation but the more she reads about late night weekends downtown, she’s content with staying in. Several subjects were arrested for public intoxication, assault, and a bouncer reported a man “leaving the bar looking like he had a gun."

Bad meth. A caller phoned 911 for medical help because he had “numbness throughout his body and cannot breathe very well from doing crystal meth.”

Lost and found. Kudos, kind citizen who found a purse that contained a wallet, checks, and diapers. The owner was contacted thanks to your kind deed.

Monday, December 19

Tires slashed. Three people in the area of Sunnyvale Avenue and Larkey Lane reported that their tires were slashed overnight.

Humbug, bah. A four-foot-tall, hand-painted wooden Santa was stolen from the front porch of a home on Comistas Court.

Door smashed. Mr. Lucky’s on Locust Street had its front door smashed and a baseball bat was left nearby. Nothing was reported taken.

Tuesday, December 20

Lock it. Readers, please remind your friends and family to not leave any valuables in your car and lock up! 'Tis the season for many of preventable car related thefts. Several thousand dollars worth of tools was stolen from a truck overnight on Carmel Drive. This neighborhood has been hit hard lately with these type of thefts.

Yuck. A transient was seen “urinating on the sidewalk” in front of the 1500 block of Locust Street at 10 a.m.

Four construction workers vs. two shoplifters. Two men who were chased by a group on construction workers were arrested for shoplifting from Nordstrom at 11:44 a.m.
