Crime & Safety

Creek Diva: Lisa Simpson's Sorrow, Roller Derby On The Edge and Joe Montana Gear

Police reports cover Aug. 5 to Aug. 8.

Friday, August 5

Swinger. A man was arrested on charges of assault and battery after he “took a swing at a bouncer at bar on Civic Drive at 12:08 a.m." Meanwhile another man was arrested for urinating in public, public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Say it ain't so, Joe. Joe Montana memorabilia and $186 in cash was reported stolen from an office on Citrus Circle. Several hours earlier, a car was pulled over with similar items in the vehicle. The items were booked into police evidence to determine the rightful owner. The investigation is ongoing.

Child safety. Kudos to the WCPD, which donated car seats to a woman who was cited for having her children ride in a car without proper restraint. FYI, Children must be secured in an appropriate child passenger restraint (safety or booster seat) in the back seat of a vehicle until they are at least 6 years old or weigh at least 60 pounds.

Not again! Heads up, Ygnacio and Homestead Avenue residents, yet another bike was reported stolen. An olive green Kona Cinder Cone bike was the latest.

Repeat after me: “Roller Derby is not a crime.” Apparently someone was handing out roller derby fliers on Olympic and Locust Street that spurred a call into 911.

Saturday, August 6

Somewhere Lisa Simpson is crying. A Bundy saxophone in a black case with accessories at a value of $1,900 was stolen from a car parked on the 1400 block of Marchbanks Drive around 1 a.m.

Watch it. To the driver of the black BMW, license plate 6PCZ021 — a caller told police your driving was erratic on Oakland Boulevard and Ygnacio Valley Road at 9:37 p.m.

Celebrate, good times, come on! The WCPD was busy tonight shutting down loud parties, weddings and random fireworks all over town.

La Cassie alert. Another smash ‘n’ grab occurred on the street to a Toyota Camry. A window was smashed. A cell phone and CD player were stolen.

Sunday, August 7

Dreaming of sugar plum fairies? A man was found passed out in the bakery department at the downtown Safeway, and arrested on charges of public intoxication.

Vice ultra. More problems for Vice Ultra Lounge, as a club patron attempted to assault security. The patron was arrested at 1:25 a.m.

Gross. Not again! A play structure at Civic Park was covered in feces.

Stolen mail. Mail was reported stolen from a residence on the 1500 block of Gilboa Drive.

Monday, August 8

Garden peace. FYI, you cannot run a leaf blower or any other sort of loud landscaping devices until 8 a.m. in this town. One woman reported them being them in the Belford Drive neighborhood.

Ring theft by theft ring? A large diamond engagement ring and wedding band went missing in a black pouch at Broadway Plaza.

Not sporting. A storage container at Northgate High School was broken into overnight. Tools, copper wire, shirts and shorts were stolen. Creek Diva is a fan of Northgate sports and is ticked off about this crime.
