Creek Diva: Car Was Stolen … er … Oops, I Walked to BART

Walnut Creek reports from Sept. 7 to Sept. 11, including shooting & pot-smoking at Heather Farm Park.

Friday, September 7

Heads up, Lacassie Avenue residents. Several vehicle break-ins in your neighborhood lately reported to Walnut Creek police. Golf clubs, coolers, and prescription eyeglasses were stolen.

Fight at school. A Las Lomas student was booked on assault charges after two students engaged in a fight on campus. The other student was treated at Kaiser.

Bike burglar busted. A man was arrested after he attempted to steal three bikes on the 1600 block of North California Boulevard at 11:27 a.m. The man allegedly had burglary tools, including a hacksaw.

A lot of trashcans. $1,500 worth of ashtrays and trashcans was stolen from the Keys clubhouse on the 400 block of North Civic Drive in the past 48 hours.

Saturday, September 8

DUI. A man was arrested on DUI charges and charged with filing a false police report on Oak Grove and Ygnacio Valley Road at 2:03 a.m.

Stricken hiker. The fire department responded to a 56-year-old hiker with high blood pressure who needed assistance up in the Open Space at 12:43 p.m.

Absent-minded. A green 2002 Honda Civic was reported stolen from a parking spot on the 2600 block of Jones Road in the past 24 hours. Good news, 24 hours later the owner realized that he had walked to BART and his car wasn’t stolen after all.

Sunday, September 10

Voice of experience. If you drink “several 40-oz. cans of beer” you might fall down, according to one man’s proclamation in front of the Jehovah’s Witness Church on Buena Vista Avenue at 11:13 a.m.

Seriously, folks? Please don’t shoot at the wildlife pond at Heather Farm Park. Since we are on the subject, you can’t fish there either. Thanks.

Monday, September 10

Pothead. A man was arrested on a narcotics violation charge after a caller reported allegedly seeing him smoking pot at Heather Farm Park playground at 4:35 p.m.

Bike thieves. Several bikes were reported stolen up and down Creekside Drive. Fellow neighbors, please use a U-lock and an extra cable lock when securing your bikes on our street. Locking your bikes to a carport is not a good idea.

Tuesday, September 11

Drinking. The family that drinks together sometimes also gets arrested together. Two men with the same last name were arrested on drunkenness charges on the 2700 block of North Main Street at 1:25 a.m.

Copper thieves. Copper wiring near Walnut Creek Intermediate School was reported stolen sometime in the past week.
