Creek Diva: Pool Scofflaws, Double DUI And a Sad Dog Story

Incidents from the Walnut Creek police blotter from July 8 to 13.


Friday, July 8 
Probably not the best time to sneak into a pool, kids: A resident phoned police at 1:07 a.m. after hearing some “rowdy kids” at the Pheasant Run pool on Doncaster Drive. Several kids ran upon the police arrivals, but two were detained and picked up by a parent.

Bike accident: A 73-year-old man had a solo bicycle accident on Oak Grove and Ygnacio Valley Road at 10:43a.m. He was transported to the hospital with a head injury. Rider, I hope you are feeling better!

Who am I? A man named Joel was arrested downtown on charges of false identification to a police officer, probation violation and three burglary-related warrants.

Saturday, July 9
Just plain stupid! A man was arrested on charges of violating his probation due to a prior DUI charge. He was also allegedly driving while under the influence at the time of his arrest.

Attempted burglary: Thank you, WCPD, for arresting the three alleged suspects in an attempted burglary on Creekside Drive.

Stolen Acura: A black 1990 Acura Integra license plate 2VJP455 was stolen from a parking spot on the 1200 block of Homestead Avenue. 


Sunday, July 10
Is it party season in Walnut Creek? The police have been busy all over town reminding residents to quiet down. Yes, that goes for you, too, residents of Creekside Glen, Whispering Oaks, Newell Hill Place and Monarch Apartments! 

Knock it off: To the thrill-seeker who thought it was okay to light M-80 fireworks off at 2 a.m. on Creekside Drive, knock it off. 

Quick work: Fifteen minutes — that’s all it took for three separate subjects arrested on charges of public intoxication! 

Reminder: Your vehicle will be towed if you leave it parked on a section of Locust Street and Cole Avenue overnight. The street must be cleared in time for Sunday farmers market. 

Monday, July 11
Stolen 4x4: A Silver Toyota Tacoma 4x4 license plate 7C85555 was stolen from a parking lot on Creekside Drive overnight. 

Sparks: An AT&T junction box was vandalized overnight on Wimbledon Drive.

Musical thief: A sound mixing board was stolen from an unlocked classroom on Buena Vista Avenue sometime this past week. 
Looking for Ella: A gold wedding band with the name “Ella” inscribed on the inside went missing on Locust Street and Civic Drive. 

Tuesday, July 12
Sad canine tale: Goodness, gracious. A caller saw a “female walk out to the garbage can 20 minutes ago and placed a white bag in the trash” on Near Court. The caller went to go collect recycling and found a dead dog in the trash. No signs of animal cruelty. RIP dog. 

Backward screen evidence: A resident reported a possible break-in to a home on Boulevard Way. The caller returned home to “a screen on backwards and bushes under window trampled.” 

Teen fight: A father reported that another student from the Sylvan Learning Center allegedly assaulted his 13-year-old daughter. 

Wednesday, July 13
Bad scrip: A female attempted to pass a fraudulent prescription at a business on the 1100 block of South California Blvd at 9:29 a.m. She was not located on police arrival. 

Internet scams: Several Internet-related scams have been reported are in the news again. Police have some common sense advice to protect yourself. 

Thief with screwdriver: A storage unit was broken into on the 1900 block of Ygnacio Valley Road. An unknown subject removed the hinge screws to gain access to the storage unit. No loss was reported.

Power lines: More AT&T lines were cut overnight on the 1800 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.
