Creek Diva: Rescuing the Puppy Stuck in the Fence, Wake and Bake, and Looking For a Safeway Purse Bandit

Walnut Creek police reports from Sept. 25 to Sept. 28

Sunday, September 25

Ouch. A man reported losing $800 inside or near the 7-Eleven on the 2500 block of North Main Street around noon. Hope you find your money!

Not cool. A man was arrested for allegedly hitting his girlfriend, then stealing her vehicle on the 1900 block of North Broadway at 3:17 a.m. If you or know someone who is a victim of domestic violence, here are resources.

Alert Samaritan. Great job to the caller who was concerned about a barking dog in the 1600 block of Montin Court at 5:36 a.m. A puppy was stuck in a fence and the owner was able to bring the dog inside.

Stolen Saturn. A green 2005 Saturn Vue license plate 5MBJ559 was stolen from the DMV lot on Arroyo Way and Broadway overnight. The keys were in the car at the time of the theft.

Monday, September 26

Wake and bake? Police investigated a family dispute in which a mother was allegedly upset with her son because he "doesn’t have any weed,” according to a report at 8:50 a.m on the 1200 block of Homestead Avenue. 

Lost art. A city worker found a piece of metal artwork, possibly left over from the Pacific Art Event on Main Street over the weekend.

Broadway Safeway Purse Bandit is back! Another woman reported that an “Asian female, 18-22 short and heavy set” stole a purse while shopping at the Safeway on Broadway. The purse was returned, sans the $85 cash.

Tuesday, September 27

Lane encroachment. Hey, cab driver, please maintain your lane when driving around town. A caller was uneasy about your lack of abiding by the rules of the road at 7:39 a.m.

Stolen bike. A Specialized Rockhopper bicycle with black, grey and orange writing was stolen from a locked carport on the 500 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.

Stolen jewelry. A home on the 100 block of Pickering Place was burglarized via the back door between the hours of 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. Jewelry was reported stolen.


Wednesday, September 28

Masked men. Six masked men robbed a Valero gas station on Ygnacio Valley Road. One fired a weapon at a customer pumping gas. The investigation continues.

Hang up and drive! To the driver of the gold PT Cruiser, license plate 5HTV696, please hang up your phone and drive safely. You nearly caused an accident or two on Ygnacio Valley Road this morning, according to a police report.

Pool gear. Pool filters and sprinklers were stolen from a backyard of a home on the 1400 block of Dos Palos Drive sometime in the past three days.
