Crime & Safety

Creek Diva: Rocks Are Harder Than Water Balloons, Elder Abuse Via Credit Card and Drunken Diner Dashers

Incidents from the Walnut Creek police log from July 27 to July 31.

Wednesday, July 27

Camper shell popped. A white Ford F150 pickup was burglarized overnight on the 1200 block of Parkside Drive. The camper shell was “pried open.” A generator and large toolbox were stolen.

Great job, sheriff's office. A stolen Jeep was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

Stolen Honda. A 1996 green Honda Civic DX, license plate 6LOC408, was stolen from a parking spot on the 1500 block of Rivera Drive overnight.

Parked car trend. A car was broken into at the Heather Farm dog park and a purse was stolen. Two other cars that were parked near the garden center also were broken into.

Phone mischief. Two brothers, age 7 and 9, were being “smarty pants with Dispatch” at 2:31 p.m. The mother of the two sassy sons was contacted and said, “I will try to control the kids.” Good luck, mom. Creek Diva is counting down the days till school starts!

Thursday, July 28

Major fraud. A daughter reported to police that her parent was a victim of elder abuse totaling $175,000 in unauthorized credit card charges and check cashing. Read these tips from the WCPD on "Senior Security."

Rock throwing. Although Creek Diva and her son were not injured, it probably was not the safest summertime activity, boys. Some teenagers were throwing eggs, water balloons and rocks at pedestrians downtown. You hit the one and only Creek Diva with a water balloon and you almost hit my elderly neighbor, who was a few feet behind. Thank you to the man who got the license plate number!

Friday, July 29

Water balloons. A report came in that several kids were throwing water balloons at cars on Treat and Carriage Place at 12:17 a.m. Creek Diva sure hopes this isn’t the same group of bozos from yesterday.

Here we go again. A catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Tacoma truck on the 2200 block of North Main Street overnight.

Be on the lookout. A purse was accidentally left behind in a wheelchair from Kaiser. The purse went missing, along with a Russian visa and personal items.

Kiss the rest your summer vacation goodbye. Three juveniles were arrested on charges of commercial burglary at Broadway Plaza this afternoon.

Saturday, July 30

A friendly reminder. Parents and caregivers, please educate your children about when it is necessary to dial 911. Several accidental calls have been reported recently.

Slow down! To the kid who was seen driving a silver BMW 5 series, license plate 5PUU392, please slow down. A concerned caller saw you driving recklessly in the Walnut Knolls neighborhood.

Not cool. A group of five men and four women who were kicked out of Ultra Vice Lounge on Arroyo Way allegedly threatened to “burn the business down” at 10:18 p.m.

Sunday, July 31

Car window puncher. More problems on Arroyo Way for one man who was arrested on charges of public intoxication after he was seen punching out a window of a nearby car.

Diner dashers. A group of drunken diners walked out on a $34 tab at Hubcaps Diner at 2:44 a.m. The diner dashers were contacted and paid the remaining tab.

Not neighborly. A woman was videotaped throwing garbage and dog feces over her fence into her neighbor's yard on the 2900 block of Ygnacio Valley Road at 2:34 p.m. She was contacted and agreed to pick up the mess.

More shady neighbor behavior? A resident on Creekside Drive noticed that the registration tab from his car was peeled off and now is on his neighbor's car. Investigation ongoing.
