Crime & Safety

Creek Diva: Thanks For The Coin Purse, Thanks For The Saxophone and No Thanks to Pushy Bikers Near the Apple Store.

Walnut Creek police reports from Sept. 15 to Sept. 17.

Thursday, September 15

Deadbeat. A San Francisco cabbie reported a $200 fare evader at 2:54 a.m on the 300 block of North Civic Drive. Police attempted to contact the individual who fled.

Kindness. Kudos to the citizen who found a coin purse today on the 700 block of Bancroft Road. The owner was able to pick it up thanks to your kind deed.

Pet peeve. A kid’s blue and orange 20-inch Diamondback bicycle with light blue handles has been stolen from a greenbelt behind a home on Crimson Court. Bike thefts are one of Creek Diva’s crime pet peeves.

Warrant arrest. WCPD arrested a man on charges of being in possession of a stolen property and an outside warrant on Tampico at 6:02 p.m.

Not so quiet. A home on Quiet Place Drive was broken into. An iPad, laptop and $300 worth of coins were reported stolen.

Friday, September 16

Heads up. Creekside neighbors, a lot of cars have been broken into lately. A Toyota Corolla was broken into overnight and a pair of sunglasses and other personal items were stolen.  Elsewhere in Walnut Creek, a Toyota Highlander was unlocked on the 400 block of Le Jean Way. Which resulted in the theft of a wallet, credit cards and a driver’s license.

Alcohol incident. Two Las Lomas High students were detained for “supplying alcohol to anther student.” The student in question also was transported to a local hospital for a medical issue at 1:07 p.m.

All you need is love… and a permit. A solicitor was warned after he didn’t have a proper permit on Wimbledon Road this afternoon. He was soliciting “Spreading the love.”

Lock up. Valley Vista Road residents, please lock your cars and take your valuables with you. Two burglaries occurred overnight and various laptops, iPad and other computer items were stolen. Arbolado residents should also be on the lookout, as a car on that street also was broken into.

IFraud. An unknown subject used a fraudulent check to purchase $19,000 in items at the Apple Store.

Saturday, September 17

Check fraud. A resident on the 1400 of Marchbanks Drive was scammed out of $7,800 in a check cashing scam. Read up on how to protect yourself. If you have any elderly friends and family, read this to them.

Pushy. To the male and female that were riding their bicycles on the sidewalk by the Apple Store and telling people to get out of the way — FYI, you can’t ride your bike on the sidewalks and please get some manners.

Sax solo. A kind citizen found a lost saxophone downtown; the rightful owner was able to pick it up because of your public spiritedness.
