Creek Police Beat: Satan's songs, coyote crashes and bra bandits

Patch's ace Police Beat writer reads WCPD's bulletin every day—so you don't have to. Here, she summarizes a week's worth of crime trends, as well as the bad, sad, annoying and silly things that keep officers busy.

Here's what people were calling the police about from March 1- 8.

Tuesday, March 1

Heads up: Arroyo Way was closed for emergency EBMUD repair work for a few hours this morning.

Tag envy: A woman reported the theft of the registration tag on her black Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 2800 block of Walnut Boulevard.  Meanwhile, cars on Wiget Lane and Trinity Avenue were towed because of false tags.

Medical lift: A wallet was stolen from a desk at John Muir Medical Center.

Where do you work? A man called police about his girlfriend who was threatening to kill herself after the boyfriend said he had learned  that she is a prostitute. The girlfriend did not meet 5150 (poses a threat to herself) requirements and the boyfriend admitted he was “just upset.”

Tuesday, March 2

Paying it forward: Kudos to the citizen who found a wallet in front of the Marriott Hotel. The owner was located and the wallet was returned.

Part missing: A catalytic converter was stolen from a ‘93 Toyota Previa yesterday on the 1200 block of Locust Street.

Where'd I put it? A woman thought her purse was stolen from a grocery cart at the Safeway on Broadway. Luckily, it was found in the parking lot undisturbed.

Thursday, March 3

High school mayhem: Police were called to Northgate High School after some windows were vandalized overnight. Yes, Northgate does have some windows.

Bowser boosted: A dog was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Broadway Plaza. Upon returning to the car, the owner found the windows rolled up and the dog missing.

Border bother: A chain link fence that borders the fire road near Hutchinson Road was vandalized in the past few days. Damage was estimated at $400.

Strange methods:  A census worker refused to leave and was yelling at a resident on the 1400 block of Creekside Drive.

Friday, March 4

Not cool: A woman reported that personal information about her was posted on the Internet, possibly by her ex-boyfriend.

Out of sight is best: A smash ‘n’ grab occurred on the 1800 block of Trinity Avenue. Two bags containing Innova Golf Discs were taken from a Dodge Ram.

Loaded learners: Two Las Lomas students were arrested on suspicion of intent to sell and possession of marijuana.

Transient terror: A transient female punched an elderly woman in the chest “while yelling racial slurs” at Civic Park at 10:03 a.m. The transient was placed on a 5150 hold. What’s going on in Civic Park lately?

Glue alert: Another ATM was vandalized on the 1300 block of N. Main Street. Two ATM keys were glued down, resulting in $1,500 to $2,000 worth of damage. Creek Diva saw a news report on this recently. If you run into a problem like this, call the police and your bank immediately.

Saturday, March 5

Could it be ... Satan? The award for most unusual call goes to the caller who phoned police to say, “Somebody is playing satanic music that is talking about killing people” at 1:45 a.m. Perhaps the caller should write Ozzy Osborne, who has his advice column here: www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ozzy-osbourne-is-taking-your-health-questions-20101013.

All the news that's fit to sprint: A newspaper delivery driver was told to slow down in the Cabot Drive neighborhood at 5:23 a.m.

Egad, that’s a lot of eggs:  A dozen cars were egged overnight in the area of Rudgear and Palmer roads.

Creepy: A Peeping Tom was seen in the 1400 block of Creekside Drive about 7 p.m. looking into a bathroom window. Watch it Mr. Peepers, you should know Creek Diva lives nearby.

Sunday, March 6

Drinking drama: It was business as usual for the WCPD. Several people were arrested on charges of public intoxication as well as a few on suspicion of DUI.

Can you hear me now? A Blackberry cell phone was found on the sidewalk near Carmel Drive.

No fore: An unlocked car on Amberwood Lane was broken into overnight. A golf bag containing clubs, shoes and a Bluetooth device was stolen.

The Bra Bandits return: Four females fled on foot after stealing $5,000 worth of bras.

Break-ins and a beating: Creekside residents, a lot of cars in the neighborhood have been broken into recently. Lock your doors and take your valuables with you. And a stern warning to the jerk who was seen “beating a golden-colored lab” in the parking lot on the 1400 block of Creekside Drive, shame on you.

Tuesday, March 8

Too dang early: The new Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market on Ygnacio had a 5:58 a.m. delivery that rightfully annoyed some nearby residents. The driver and employees were advised to “obtain a noise permit or wait until 7 a.m. “
