The summer party season kicked off early, with several unfortunate folks arrested downtown on charges of public intoxication. A man was arrested at the scene of a car crash on Treat and Bancroft after his vehicle hit a “red pole and was leaking radiator fluid.” The driver reportedly was driving under the influence. This is the same location of the fatal pedestrian crash in July.

Mercury nabbed: A white 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, license plate 6NRV210, was stolen from the Walnut Creek Ford car lot overnight.

Attention, Sierra Drive residents: Yet another catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota pickup overnight. This neighborhood has been a hotbed for these thefts.

Warrant arrests: A parolee at large was arrested on two felony warrants on the 1900 block of Tice Valley Boulevard at 7:18 p.m. A woman also was arrested on a warrant.

Make way for the market: A friendly reminder: Your car will be towed to make room for the Sunday farmers market. Upper Locust Street and parts of Giammona Drive are off-limits during this time.

Smash 'n' grabs: Several vehicles that were parked on the 1200-1400 blocks of Locust Street were broken into overnight. Please take your valuables with you, folks!

Bike thefts: An Orbea road bike valued at $3,000 was stolen from a garage on Quiet Place Drive about 2:30p.m.  A blue Specialized hybrid bike was stolen this afternoon on Locust Street.

Charlotte would be proud: A wonderful woman by the name Alice found two pigs in the Rudgear neighborhood this morning. The pigs were reunited with their owner. Well done, Alice!

Warning for cabbie: A cab driver was told to slow down after he was seen “speeding and running stop signs” at 12:46 a.m. on Locust Street.

Not tight as a drum: A woman left a sliding glass door to her apartment on Newell Hill Place unlocked and it was broken into between June 8 and June 13. A white beach cruiser bicycle, PS3 and watch were stolen.

C'mon, guys: Some kids were told to get off the roof of Walnut Acres Elementary this afternoon. School is out, go swim, go bike or, better yet, check out the library reading program, http://guides.ccclib.org/srf.

They're back: Reports from around town came in today about aggressive solicitors on Dapplegray Court and Oak Knolls Loop today. How do you deal with solicitors who won’t take no for an answer?

Wednesday, June 15

School vandalized: A glass display case at Foothill Middle School was vandalized in the past 24 hours.

Get off Creekside: Creek Diva would appreciate it if the owners of the abandoned vehicles parked on Creekside Drive would move their cars. As we know, this street is highly populated, so move it or lose it! Twenty-two cars were cited today.

Gas woes: A broken gas main was reported on Homestead Avenue and Calder Lane at 8:55 a.m.

More kudos: Good job, kind citizen who found a lost wallet on Bancroft Road. It was reunited with its owner.
