Elderly Walnut Creek Couple Injured in Sonoma County Roll Over Crash

Both sustained minor injuries.

BAY CITY NEWS--An 81-year-old Walnut Creek driver and his wife, also 81, were injured Friday afternoon when their car crashed into two vehicles stopped on a Sonoma County highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred on state Highway 37 just west of state Highway 121 near Sears Point at about 3:50 p.m., the CHP said.

 James and Alice Murray were in their a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 east on Highway 37 when James Murray, the driver, apparently failed to see that traffic was stopped ahead and crashed into two vehicles. He first rear-ended a Toyota pickup driven by a 41-year-old Santa Rosa man, pushing the truck into the center median. Murray's vehicle then crashed into the rear of a 2004 Toyota Matrix driven by a 48-year-old woman from Sebastopol.

 Murray's vehicle went off the road, rolling several times before coming to rest upright alongside the highway.

Murray and his wife sustained minor injuries, and they were taken to Sonoma Valley Hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
