Updated, more details from police, 9:30 p.m. Sunday

Walnut Creek police were investigating a Sunday morning accident in which a Toyota sedan came to rest on its roof after coming down the northbound I-680 exit ramp at Rudgear Road.

The driver needed Contra Costa County Fire Protection District emergency assistance to get out of the flipped Toyota. He was conscious and responsive, police said, with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for observation, Officer Gabe Mauro reported.

At about 10:50 a.m. Sunday, the Toyota came to rest on its roof on South Broadway, just across the Rudgear Road intersection from the I-680 exit ramp. A second vehicle was involved in the accident as two vehicles came down the exit ramp, police said. The second vehicle received minor damage.
