Fake Oxycodone Script Launched Police Search

The two suspects arrested after a high-speed chase led them to ditch a car on Hornet Drive, Danville — had earlier tried to pass a fraudulent prescription of Oxycodone at a CVS on South California Boulevard, Walnut Creek, police reported.

The two suspects are identified as 30-year-old Jermaine Robinson of Oakland — the driver — and 28-year-old Aaron Burrell of Richmond.

The incident began at about 6 p.m. when Walnut Creek Police responded to a report of a subject attempting to pass a fake prescription at the CVS located at 1123 South California Blvd., Walnut Creek Sgt. Lanny Edwards said. When the responding officers reached the scene, they observed the suspect vehicle driving out of the parking lot and a chase ensued.

The officers tried to stop the vehicle as it fled onto southbound Interstate 680 but, Edwards said, as a result of the high speed, the pursuit was terminated.

An East Bay Regional Parks Police helicopter was in the area and observed the incident. It followed the vehicle into Danville as it exited El Cerro, traveling east. The vehicle turned right on Enterprise Drive, then left on Hornet Drive where the driver ditched the getaway vehicle, according to Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins.

Danville Police located the empty vehicle and threw up a perimeter. However, policd could not immediately locate the suspects, Simpkins said.

About two hour later, Danville Police responded to a report of a suspicious subject in the area, Edwards said. The responding officers positively identified the two suspects and arrested them, he added.

The suspects were handed over to Walnut Creek Police Friday night.

Robinson and Burrell were booked into county jail on charges of burglary, forgery, passing fraudulent perceptions and evading police. Additionally, Burrell had an active arrest warrant for failing to appear on a San Francisco burglary charge, Edwards said.
