Fire Scorches Brush Near Lakeland Village

The fire on Grand Avenue, near Lancashire Drive, was reported at 6:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire, and was spreading at a moderate rate, Cal Fire officials said.

A fire near Lakeland Village quickly scorched brush Friday night but was quickly contained, authorities said.

The fire on Grand Avenue, near Lancashire Drive, was reported at 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, and was spreading at a moderate rate.

Officials originally reported the blaze burned 6 acres, but according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann, the fire was contained around 8 p.m. to 1 acre.

There were no injuries or structures lost in the blaze, which is under investigation.

Firefighters will remain on scene until about midnight.
