Fires Plague Neighboring Cities

Residents, dogs displaced in Martinez house fire. Arson arrest made in Concord apartment fire. No injuries reported in either fire.

Residents and dogs were displaced in residential fires in Concord and Martinez over the weekend. No injuries were reported in either fire.

In Martinez, three people and two dogs were made homeless in a house fire in Martinez Saturday night. ConFire responded to the fire at a home in the 2100 block of Trinity Place at around 11:05 p.m. Saturday, said a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District dispatcher.

Arriving fire personnel reported seeing heavy fire coming from one side of the home. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze by 11:32 p.m., said the dispatcher.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In Concord, two apartment units were damaged in a Clayton Way fire on Sunday. Police arrested a transient man on suspicion of arson after the one-alarm fire at 11:50 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Clayton Way, ConFire reported.

Police arrested Michael Moss, a transient in Concord in his 30s, on suspicion of arson, said police Sgt. Sam Staten.
