Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with robbing a pharmacy of prescription drugs on Thursday evening in Walnut Creek.

Police said Walnut Creek resident Ryan Belkin was arrested shortly after he robbed a CVS pharmacy at 1123 S. California Blvd. of Oxycodone.

At about 6:45 p.m. a suspect walked up to the store's pharmacy counter and handed the employee a note demanding Oxycodone and simulated having a handgun, police said.

Witnesses pointed officers in the direction that the suspect fled and officers were able to quickly locate the suspect and take him into custody.

Officers found a note demanding Oxycodone, but did not recover a gun, police said.

Belkin was taken to the County Jail in Martinez on $100,000 bail, according to police.
