An Alameda man is being held on $500,000 bail on suspicion of burglarizing the Palo Alto home of the late Steve Jobs.

McFarlin grabbed iPhones, iPads, Macs and iPods — as well as a wallet containing a single dollar, police said, according to the Contra Costa Times.

The News says more than $60,000 of "computers and personal items" were taken in the burglary, according to Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery, a member of the high-technology crimes unit.

McFarlin is being held in the Santa Clara County jail and is scheduled to enter a plea in court on Aug. 20.

McFarlin has been an Alameda resident off and on at least since the early 1990s, with addresses in the West End, an Alameda Police Department spokesman said.

Sgt. Wayland Gee said McFarlin has been cited for traffic violations in Alameda but has no arrest record here. McFarlin has been arrested in other Alameda County jurisdictions in the past, Gee said.
