Moraga PD: Fake ID, Leather Jacket & A 30-Pack

A 17-year-old with a hefty blood alcohol content reading is reported in the Moraga police blotter from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1.

Correction, Jan 5: Corrected the BAC level in 'Underaged under the influence' item.

Dec. 25
Christmas fight. At 9:44 a.m., Moraga police responded to a report of battery involving a parent and a 13-year-old child on Moraga Road. Officers interviewed involved parties and referred the case to Child and Family Services.

Dec. 27
Shoplifting. At 4:35 p.m., loss prevention personnel at Home Goods on Moraga Road told police a woman walked out of the store after putting a $49.99 item in her purse. They said she had been observed doing the same thing at other locations. The theft is under investigation.

Campo graffo. Graffiti was reported on the east wall of the Campolindo High gymnasium. The estimate for cleanup was $250. A photo of the damage was filed in Moraga police's graffiti folder.

Dec. 29
Underaged under the influence. Police stopped a burgundy BMW making a right turn on red with a posted no-right-turn-on-red sign from the parking lot at 633 Moraga Road. The 17-year-old quickly removed his leather jacket and tried to conceal a 30-pack of Keystone beer on the left rear floorboard of the car. He was discovered with a false Mississippi ID and a blood alcohol content of 0.049 percent based on a Preliminary Alcohol Screen test, police reported.

Blood trail, but no charges. At 10:36 p.m. on Paseo Del Rio, police arrived at the scene of a dispute and the reporting party told officers two subjects had been in a scrap in front of the residence. Officers found bloody clothing and blood on the ground leading to the residence. The two fighters had left but officers were able to locate one. All parties declined prosecution.

Dec. 30
Angry words at CVS. At 6:05 p.m. on Moraga Road, an angry customer went into an employee-only area and got madder when told he had to return to the public area. When police interviewed him, he said the problem came from staff. The store manager told the customer he was no longer welcome and would be subject to a trespassing arrest if he entered without permission of management.

Dec. 31
Driver asleep. At 1:23 a.m., officers observed a vehicle northbound on Moraga Road just north of Rheem Boulevard. It was partially blocking the roadway and partly on the soft shoulder. The driver was asleep inside the locked vehicle with the motor running. Officers were unable to awaken the driver. With the assistance of firefighters, the vehicle was entered. The driver, who was uninjured, failed in-field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

Too much party. At 5:32 p.m., officers made a traffic stop in the 600 block of Moraga Road. A test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent.

Raucous. At 11:26 in the last hour of 2012, police responded to a report of a loud party on Duarte Court. Some 30 guests were asked to leave the residence and the owner was given a Moraga Party Ordinance warning.

0.49 alcohol? I hope you meant .049, or he is lucky to be alive
John Heylin January 05, 2013 at 01:46 AM
Yeah, .49 and he's still alive? And he got there drinking Keystone? That dude is a legend. You'd think someone who drove a BMW would drink classier beer.

Sharp eyes, John. That was a typo and I just corrected it. BAC was 0.049. Apologies also to my math teacher John Joa, who apparently didn't teach me well enough how important placement of the decimal point was . -- Lance Howland, editor, Lamorinda Patch
