Police Chase, Arrest Person at Gunpoint at Pleasant Hill, Old Tunnel Roads
Short chase precedes armed confrontation at Pleasant Hill and Old Tunnel roads. Freeway on-ramp briefly closed.
Lafayette police chased down and arrested a man just after 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill and Old Tunnel roads, just west of Walnut Creek. Patch readers report the person was arrested at gunpoint and the freeway onramp to Highway 24 briefly closed as police investigated the incident.
Witnesses report a chase was initiated at about 10:11 a.m. when the driver of a small car refused to yield to police. The car was eventually stopped and the driver confronted at gunpoint.
It was not immediately known why the suspect attempted to evade police. Stand by for more information as we get it.
