Police Log: Wild West on Locust St; Plus Stolen CPAP, Stolen Cars, Stolen Laptops, Stolen Shoes

Sunday, May 12, 2013 1:16am – A woman on the 100 block of Roxanne Ct. reported that a man was turning the doorknob to her home and yelling. Police arrived and arrested a man for public drunkenness and felony vandalism.

1:21am to 1:32am –
It was quite a party on Locust St. as police arrested two men for public drunkenness and another man for stealing a cell phone. Ah, the wee hours of Sunday morning, when it still feels like Saturday night.

1:43am –
A white Toyota was seen driving recklessly on Pringle Ave., and it was believed the driver was DUI, but according to the log, there were no units available to send.

1:50am –
At North Main and Parkside Dr., police arrested a man for DUI, though it’s not known if it was the same driver as the above log entry. Still, at least one intoxicated driver was removed from the road.

2:02am –
At Shuey and Bonanza St., reports were received about loud music and people dancing in the street. As much fun as this sounds like, if you’re not part of the party you’re part of the population trying to get some sleep. Police arrived and invited the sober partygoers to drive the not-sober revelers home.

2:05am –
At Cherry Lane and Santos Lane, a woman was arrested for DUI.

2:17am –
On the 1600 block of Locust St., a man was arrested for urinating in public.

2:18am –
At S. California Blvd. and Bothelo Dr., someone hit a streetsign with their car and continued driving. Sobriety is not a suspect in this incident.

3:40am –
Ah, but wait. On the 1100 block of Locust St., an Audi was located in the parking lot of the valet area of the Cheesecake Factory. The front tires were flat, the front driver door was open and the driver appeared to be asleep. A man in the back seat also appeared to be asleep.

8:52am –
A smash-and-grab was reported on the 1400 block of Duncan St. A laptop was stolen.

10:58am –
Dispatch reported that a young boy called asking if the police wanted to buy some flowers. Dispatch contacted the owner of the phone, a woman who was, in fact, selling flowers, and she promised her kids would stop playing with her phone.

2:50pm –
File this under “These Morons Will Take Anything:” on the 1500 block of Ygnacio Valley Blvd., a report was received about a smash-and-grab where thieves stole a sleep apnea machine.

6:37pm –
At Walker Ave. and Sierra Dr., a bicyclist fell from his bike and hit his heat on the roadway and the bot dots, causing a major injury. The rider was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to John Muir Medical Center.

8:52pm –
A man described as Middle Eastern in a white hat and green shirt was reported on the 1500 block of N. Main throwing cans of Red Bull at cars. No damage was reported to any of the cars. He was gone when police arrived.

3:23am –
A man described as a white or Hispanic male with a white t-shirt, checkered shorts and a pony tail, was arrested at an apartment complex on the 100 block of Kinross Dr. after residents reported him to police. He had burglary tools in his possession, and was in violation of probation. He also committed a fashion crime. White t-shirt and checkered shorts? At that hour?

8:26am –
A smash-and-grab was reported on the 1300 block of Oakland Blvd. A set of tools was taken.

11:19 and 11:26am –
Two cars were reported stolen from downtown; the first from N. Main and the second from Walnut Blvd.

1:21pm –
Another stolen vehicle, this one from the 1800 block of Trinity Ave., was reported.

1:44pm –
A man was reported on the 1300 block of Civic Dr. flashing people and chasing a woman. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

3:24pm –
A car parked in the Northgate High lot belonging to a student was found to have a plastic egg stuck in the tailpipe, and the car was covered with scratches and spit.

6:48am –
An employee of the Shell Station at N. Main reported that someone installed a credit card skimmer in a gas pump.

9:57am –
A caller advised that he saw copper wiring at a homeless encampment at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Bancroft Rd.  Police investigated and told the camper to gather his substantial possessions and move along. There was no copper wiring found on the site.

10:43am –
BART police contacted Walnut Creek police to be on the lookout for a bike thief they caught in the act. Police later found the subject on Ygnacio Valley Rd. and turned him over to the BART cops.

4:50pm –
A strong-arm robbery occurred on the 2600 block of Oak Rd. A white iPhone 5 was taken by a white male juvenile between 16 and 18 years old, thin, with a white shirt, blue shorts and brown shoes.

8:45pm –
A package of shoes from Zappos was stolen from the porch of a home on the 1800 block of Burl Hollow Ct. A more egregious crime would be hard to imagine.
