Police Search For Bank Robber

Robber holds up Bank of the West at gunpoint.

Officers are searching for a man who robbed a bank at gunpoint in downtown Walnut Creek on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the man entered the Bank of the West on North California Boulevard about 3:30 p.m.

He pulled out a small hand gun and demanded money from the tellers, according to police. Two tellers handed the man an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect walked out.

He was last seen heading south on North California Boulevard. A police dog was brought in to assist in the investigation and the K-9 traced the suspect's scent to a parking garage at 1990 N. California Blvd., police said.

The suspect was not found and no one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was described as an African-American male in his mid-20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans and a black knit ski mask that left only his eyes and nose exposed.

He was carrying a dark canvas shoulder bag. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 925-943-5844.
