Small Grass Fire Extinguished Near Walnut Creek School

It took firefighters a half-hour to control the flames near Walnut Heights Elementary

Firefighters extinguished a small grass fire Friday afternoon near a Walnut Creek school.

The blaze broke out at 3:10 p.m. near Walnut Heights Elementary, according to a story in the Contra Costa Times.

The fire was contained at 3:52 p.m. The school had already been dismissed for the weekend so no evacuations were necessary, the Times reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
