Cause Still A Mystery in Downtown Walnut Creek Gas Odor

The smell was first reported at 8:30 a.m., causing a brief evacuation of Las Lomas High School

The cause is still underdetermined of a strong odor of natural gas that drifted through downtown Walnut Creek this morning.

Police say the odor was first reported at 8:30 a.m. The smell had dissipated by 9:15 a.m. from Walnut Creek. It drifted over Pleasant Hill, but the odor has also disappeared from that town.

Tamar Sarkissian, a spokeswoman for PG&E, said utility crews have determined there was no gas leak from their facilities or pipelines. There was also no PG&E work nearby that could caused the odor.
