Two More Teens Arrested, Suspects in Convenience Store Robberies

Cashiers working solo in the wee hours at local convenience stores may be breathing a little easier after Antioch police arrested two more teens suspected in a recent armed robbery spree targeting convenience stores throughout Contra Costa County.
On Tuesday, police arrested two 17-year-old Antioch males after determining their involvement in a string of armed robberies over the past two months that led to the arrest of three teens in Concord last week.

Police said one suspect was arrested while attending school in Antioch Tuesday and was wearing a sweatshirt worn by a suspect during some of the armed robberies. The other teen turned himself in to police later in the day.
Police said the two 17-year-olds admitted their participation in multiple robberies in the recent crime spree that hit mini-marts in eastern and central Contra Costa County during the past two months.

The incidents involved groups of armed, masked males robbing convenience stores and sometimes firing shots. No one has been injured in any of the robberies, according to police, but a wayward shot was fired Sept. 28 at a customer pumping gas at a Valero station on Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek.
The two suspects are being held at Juvenile Hall in Martinez where
they are awaiting arraignment.
