Two Suspects Arrested For Stealing Mail From 20 Homes

Police say they found the stolen property inside the couple's vehicle

Two people were arrested Sunday morning in Walnut Creek with a large quantity of stolen mail in their car, police report.

The two arrested were a 44-year-old man from Alameda and a 20-year-old woman from San Leandro.

Police said the incident began at 7:34 a.m. when a resident alerted officers to a car alarm that had been activated near Camino Verde and Geary Road.

When officers arrived, the resident pointed out a suspicious vehicle that had been circling the area.

Officers said they stopped the car and found stolen mail from 20 homes inside as well as property from two cars burglarized in the neighborhood.

The two suspects were booked on auto burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and other charges.
