A young man who fell onto the tracks at a San Francisco BART
station late Wednesday night was quickly pulled to safety by good Samaritans.
At about 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, as about two dozen commuters
waited for their trains on the platform of the Civic Center BART station, a
young man with a skateboard appeared to fall suddenly onto the tracks.
Walnut Creek resident Amin Khan, 23, sprang up from a bench where
he'd been waiting for his train and jumped down onto the tracks after the
Khan and a handful of other good Samaritans scrambled to pull him
back onto the platform, where another bystander called 911.
BART police officers arrived about a minute later and helped the
The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
Khan, who said he rarely rides BART, said he reacted instinctively
after seeing the man fall.
