Police are not saying why Jarrad was arrested.

By Bay City News

A Walnut Creek man was arrested in Concord early Friday morning after a brief car chase, Concord police said.

Just before 12:30 a.m. police attempted to stop a car near Concord Boulevard and Grant Street, police said.

As officers approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and a chase started, police said. The pursuit ended when the driver crashed into a fence on Bailey Road more than 3 miles away, according to police.

The driver -- and only person in the car -- was arrested following the pursuit, police said.

Police identified the man as 29-year-old James Jarrard.

He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. Police were not releasing what charges the man was suspected of.
