Walnut Creek Police Log: $10,000 Clothes Theft, Stolen Candy Canes, Drunk Driver Arrests

Some of the items on the Walnut Creek Police Department logs from Dec. 29 to Jan. 3.

Sunday, Dec. 29

DUI arrest: A 54-year-old woman was arrested at 1:08 a.m. for driving under the influence at North California and Mt. Diablo Boulevard.

Stolen car: Police were notified at 9:28 a.m. that a black Honda Civic was stolen overnight from the parking garage near Macy's in Broadway Plaza.

Expensive clothes theft: Officers were informed at 4:55 p.m. that $10,524 in jeans and shirts were stolen from a store in Broadway by a man and woman who grabbed the clothing, ran out of the store and jumped into a waiting orange Ford Edge.

Auto burglary: A woman reported to police at 7:38 p.m. that her Lexus had been broken into in the 2900 block of North Main Street. Two purses on the front seat were stolen by a man who drove off in a dark sedan.

Public drunkenness: A 35-year-old man was arrested for public drunkenness at 11:31 p.m. after leaving a residence in the 1600 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.

Monday, Dec. 30

Vehicle burglary: Officers were notified at 11:46 a.m. that a silver Volkswagen Jetta was broken into in the 4000 block of Walnut Boulevard. A purse that was hidden under a seat was stolen.

Public drunkenness: A 69-year-old woman was arrested at 4:50 p.m. after witnesses noticed she kept falling down while walking along North California Boulevard near Ygnacio Valley Road.

DUI arrest: A 43-year-old man was arrested at 9:49 p.m. for driving under the influence at Homestead Avenue and Ygnacio Valley Road.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

Decorations stolen: Police were notified at 12:13 p.m. that 12 lighted candy cane decorations that were 3 feet tall each were stolen from in front of a house in the 3500 block of Citrus Avenue.

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 3:34 p.m. that a gold Toyota Highlander was broken into in the 2700 block of Mitchell Drive. A bag and some clothing was stolen.

Rossmoor home burglary: Officers were informed at 8:48 p.m. that a home in the 3100 block of Rossmoor Parkway had been burglarized. The thieves entered through an unlocked front door and took jewelry and documents.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Public drunkenness: Two women and a man were arrested for public drunkenness between 12:16 a.m. and 1:48 a.m. on Locust Street in downtown Walnut Creek.

DUI arrest: A 25-year-old woman was arrested at 1:21 a.m. for driving under the influence at Mt. Diablo Boulevard and North Broadway.

Wrong-way DUI driver: A 52-year-old woman was arrested at 3:56 a.m. for driving under the influence after witnesses reported seeing her driving on the wrong side of Ygnacio Valley Road near North Wiget Lane.

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 9:41 a.m. that a black Toyota had been broken into in the 1800 block of Oro Valley Court. A purse and other items were stolen.

Thursday, Jan. 2

Brass caps stolen: Officers were informed at 8:32 a.m. that 30 brass caps had been stolen from pipes in the 1600 block of North California Boulevard.

Stolen car: Police were notified at 11:51 a.m. that a white 2013 Nissan had been stolen overnight from the 3000 block of Citrus Circle.

Auto burglary: Officers were notified at 12:39 p.m. that a bicycle, purse and watch were stolen from an unlocked white Lexus in the 100 block of Lorie Court.

Man with gun, knife: A 48-year-old man was arrested at 5:08 p.m. for assault with a deadly weapon and exhibiting a deadly weapon after witnesses reporting seeing him carrying a gun and knife in the 1100 block of South California Boulevard.

Friday, Jan. 3

Public drunkenness: A 38-year-old man was arrested at 12:14 a.m. for public drunkenness in the 1600 block of North Main Street after refusing to pay for a cab ride.

Auto burglary: Officers were notified at 6:18 a.m. that a Ford 250 truck had been broken into in the 1800 block of Danielle Court. Two framing nail guns were stolen.

Copper wire theft: Police were informed at 11:43 a.m. that 70 to 80 feet of copper wiring had been stolen from a school building in the 4000 block of Walnut Boulevard.

Champagne theft: Officers were informed at 6:41 p.m. that a gray Mercedes had been broken into in the 1900 block of Olympic Boulevard. A bottle of champagne was stolen.
