Walnut Creek Police Log: Auto Burglaries, DUI Arrests, Student With Lots Of Alcohol

Some of the incidents that kept Walnut Creek police officers busy last week

Some of the items listed on the Walnut Creek Police Department log from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.

Monday, Sept. 30

DUI arrest: A 27-year-old motorist was arrested at 12:13 a.m. at the Treat Boulevard onramp to Interstate 680 for driving under the influence.

Marijuana possession: Another driver was cited for possession of marijuana after their car was stopped at 1:18 a.m. at Bayberry and Perada Drive.

Stolen auto: Police were notified at 8:49 a.m. that a 1999 tan Saturn had been stolen from the 100 block of Roxanne Court.

Auto burglary: Officers were notified at 8:35 p.m. that the window of a silver Buick had been smashed on the 1600 block of Ygnacio Valley Boulevard. A purse was stolen.

Auto burglaries: A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old were arrested about 11:15 p.m. on suspicion of burglarizing cars in a hotel parking lot on Main Street. More information on the case in this Patch story.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

Attempted asphalt grinder theft: Police were notified at 7:27 a.m. that someone had tried to steal a city-owned asphalt grinder on Castle Rock Road. A city employee told officers he noticed when he arrived at work that someone had tampered with the ignition of the vehicle.

Bracelet theft: Police were informed at 12:44 p.m. that two Victorian bracelets had been stolen from a safe on the 1700 block of Shuey Avenue. The theft occurred sometime in the past six months.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

DUI arrest: A 25-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence at 2:18 a.m. after his car was stopped on the 1900 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 7:54 a.m. that a window had been smashed on a black Honda Pilot and a wallet, an Apple Macbook and keys to other vehicles had been taken.

Another auto burglary: At 9:02 a.m., police were told that a window was smashed on a white 2009 Infiniti in the 1300 block of Alma Avenue. Stolen were a leather briefcase, an Apple Macbook and personal checks.

Home burglary: Police were informed at 12:57 p.m. that a home on Ready Road had burglarized in the previous two hours. The burglar kicked in the front door and stole purses, a laptop and credit cards that been used online.

Thursday, Oct. 3

Another DUI arrest: A 27-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence after her car was stopped at 1:34 a.m. at Buskirk Avenue and Wayne Drive.

Auto theft: Officers were informed at 1:44 p.m. that a white Acura has been stolen from 680 Movers on Lesnick Lane sometime that morning.

Friday, Oct. 4

Theft from auto: A car owner reported at 8:21 a.m. that an iPhone and credit cards had been stolen from an unlocked white Mazda parked in the 1200 block of Montego.

Alcohol at high school: Police were notified at 3:29 p.m. that a student with a "large quantity of alcohol" had been detained in the administrative offices at Las Lomas High School. The student's parents were called and the youth was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

DUI with pedestrian hit: A 60-year-old motorist was arrested for felony driving under the influence at 8:11 p.m. after officers determined the driver had hit a pedestrian at Raphael Court and La Corso Circle. The pedestrian suffered a head injury.
