Walnut Creek Police Log: Stolen Turkey, Drunk Arrests, Aluminum Theft

Some of the incidents that kept Walnut Creek police officers busy last week

Some of the items listed on the Walnut Creek Police Department logs from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1.

Wednesday, Nov. 27

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 8:30 a.m. that the window of a 2008 Tacoma Toyota has been smashed while it was parked in the 1800 block of Mt. Diablo Boulevard. A cell phone was stolen from inside.

Groceries stolen: Officers were informed at 10:51 a.m. that a woman in her late 40s had stolen a cart full of groceries from a store in the Palos Verdes Mall. One of the items taken was a frozen turkey.

Assault arrest: A 28-year-old man was arrested for assault at 11:04 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing him and a woman fighting in the 1200 block of Carmel Court. The woman had screamed "Help!" during the altercation.

Beer theft arrest: An 18-year-old man was arrested for theft at 1:49 p.m. for stealing two cases of beer from a store in the 700 block of Bancroft Road.

House broken into: Police were informed at 2:36 p.m. that the front door had been kicked on a home in the 2200 block of Walnut Boulevard. It's unknown if items were taken. The suspect was described as a man in his 20s, thin build, driving a light blue SUV-type vehicle.

Theft from auto: Officers were notified at 3:32 p.m. that a wallet and credit cards had been stolen from a red Honda while it was parked in the 1200 block of Locust Street.

Bicycle theft: Officers were notified at 9:08 p.m. that a red mountain bike had been stolen from the back yard of a home in the 1900 block of Pomar Way.

DUI arrest: A 46-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence at 10:13 a.m. near the intersection of South Broadway and Newell Avenue after she was seen driving in the wrong direction down a street.

Public drunkenness: A 23-year-old man was arrested for public drunkenness at 11:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Main Street.

Thursday, Nov. 28

Drunkenness arrests: A 22-year-old man was arrested for public drunkenness at 12:54 a.m. in the 1300 block of Locust Street. Five minutes later, a 19-year-old woman was arrested on the same charge in the 1400 block of Locust Street. At 2:14 a.m., a 24-year-old man was arrested for drunkenness in the 1300 block of Locust Street.

DUI arrest: A 24-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence at 1:26 a.m. after the black Lexus she was driving was pulled over near Commercial Lane and Bonanza Street.

More drunk arrests: A 28-year-old man was arrested for public drunkenness at 1:51 a.m. after a disturbance at a bar in the 1500 block of Civic Drive. Nine minutes later, a 22-year-old man was arrested on the same charge in the 1600 block of Civic Drive.

Aluminum theft: Police were notified at 5:54 a.m. that two men were stealing aluminum siding from in a patient parking lot at Kaiser hospital on Newell Avenue. The suspects drove off in a white pick-up truck.

Car top stolen: Officers were informed at 10:11 a.m. that a convertible hard top to a Mazda had been stolen from the car while it was parked in the 1700 block of Rockspring Place.

Friday, Nov. 29

Attempted car theft: Police were notified at 9:34 a.m. that a tall man wearing a brown "hoodie" sweatshirt was trying to break into a vehicle in the Broadway Plaza parking garage. The suspect drove off in a white Dodge pick-up truck.

Drunkenness arrests: A 40-year-old man and another man were arrested at 2:47 p.m. for public drunkenness in the 1500 block of Botelho Drive.

Bank robbery: Police were notified at 5:07 p.m. that the Bank of America in the Rossmoor shopping center had been robbed. More information can be found in this Patch article.

Auto theft: Officers were informed at 11:01 p.m. that a black soft-top Jeep Wrangler had been stolen while parked near Newell Avenue and Newell Hill Place.

Saturday, Nov. 30

DUI arrest: A 28-year-old man was arrested at 12:19 a.m. for driving under the influence after his car was stopped in the 1300 block of Locust Street.

Another DUI arrest: A 38-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence at 2:08 a.m. near Wayne Drive and Buskirk Avenue.

Drunk taxi passenger: A 34-year-old man was arrested for public drunkenness at 2:41 a.m. in the 1400 block of Creekside Drive after a taxi driver reported his drunk passenger would not pay his fare.

Stolen car: A woman called police at 8:49 a.m. to report her green Nissan Altima had been stolen from a parking lot in the 1600 block of Main Street. The victim reported her keys are missing from her purse.

Prowler report: Police were notified at 1:11 p.m. that a prowler had attempted to break into a home in the 100 block of Greenwood Circle. The resident said she heard the prowler and screamed. Officers found footprints in the back yard, a screen removed and a window opened.

Bicycle theft: Officers were notified at 4:19 p.m. that a BMX bike had been stolen from Civic Park on Civic Drive.

Auto burglary: Police were informed at 8:49 p.m. that a window had been smashed on a rental vehicle in the 2900 block of North Main Street. Cash, a Dell laptop computer and a charger were stolen.

Sunday, Dec. 1

Auto burglary: Officers were notified at 10:48 a.m. that a window had been smashed on a vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Camino Verde. Several items were stolen from inside the car.

Castle Rock Park burglaries: Police were informed at 1:18 p.m. that two cars had been broken into while parked at Castle Rock Park. A wallet was taken from one vehicle. The loss in the other car wasn't known at the time of the report.
