Walnut Creek Restaurant Robbed By Two Gunmen

The two armed men entered through a back office late Saturday night

Bay City News Service

Police in Walnut Creek are searching for two gunmen who robbed a restaurant on Saturday night.

At about 11:05 p.m., officers responded to reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred at Corners Tavern restaurant, located at 1342 Broadway Plaza.

Two men armed with handguns had entered a back office, confronted
an employee and demanded cash, police said.

Patrons of the restaurant were apparently unaware that the robbery had occurred and no one was injured.

Responding officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

A witness said the two men ran down Newell Avenue and got into a sliver-colored Jeep Cherokee that drove north through the Broadway Plaza parking garage.

Both suspects were described as black men in their 20s, police said. One was around 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build and the second was around 5 feet 8 inches tall, also with a medium build. Both suspects wore
hoodies and bandanas over their faces.

Corners Tavern opened in March 2012 in the building that used to house the Bing Crosby's restaurant.

Anyone who might have information about the robbery is asked to contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
