WCPD: Doughnuts Descending Downtown
Also — a crowbar-wielding man on a trail and other alarming and criminal reports from Walnut Creek police from Feb. 27 to March 2.
Feb. 27
Sleeping at the bank. At 4:21 a.m., a homeless man was found sleeping in the lobby of a bank at the Palos Verdes Mall. Walnut Creek officers told him to find another berth.
Vandalism. A windshield was broken on a city vehicle and a backhoe was vandalized at a city yard on Via Mantilla.
Chased on trail. At 9:24 a.m., police took a report from a 14-year-old girl who said a Hispanic man in his 30s wearing light-colored pants and a grey sweat shirt chased her on a trail near Walnut Boulevard as she was walking to school. Police are investigating.

Were the doughnuts stale? Police took a report about a man hurling doughnuts from the top of a multi-story parking garage on the 1600 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard.
Feb. 28
Crowbar wielder. At 8:04 a.m., police investigated a report of a man on the Iron Horse Trail walking up to the fence of the armory near Carmel Drive and appearing to case the area. The report was that it was a Hispanic male wearing dark clothing and a backpack. Police checked the area and found no evidence of criminal activity.

Bike theft. Police were investigating video footage that showed a man on the deck of a unit, cutting a chain and making off with a bike.
March 1
Homeless camps. A homeless man was reported setting up a camp behind the Starbucks at Palos Verdes Mall. Officers were unable to locate him, and advised the reporting party to call back when the man is there. Ditto with a man setting up a camp in a parking garage in the 1200 block of Alpine Road.
Jewelry theft. A San Antonio Way resident reported the theft of jewelry from several weeks ago. He suspects a friend of his daughter's. Police are investigating.
Road rage. A reporting party said it was "road rage" when a driver in a white Mercedes-Benz with paper plates cut other motorists off at South California Boulevard and Newell Avenue, then drove off south on South Main Street. The man was described as a white male in his 50s, with gray hair in a buzz cut, wearing a dark T-shirt.
