WCPD: Hit-And-Run Accident Dislodges ATM?

Also, a nosy neighbor with an active camera and other questionable, even criminal acts reported to the Walnut Creek police from March 20 to March 23.

March 20
ATM blues. Reported at 7:03 a.m., an ATM machine on the 1300 block of South California Boulevard was either struck by a hit-and-run vehicle or suffered an attempt to break in to get money from it. Parts from a damaged vehicle were on the scene. The machine ended up in front of the office door, but no money was reported stolen. The incident happened between 6:30 p.m. March 19 and 7:00 a.m. March 20.

Window smash. Reported at 3:12 p.m., the window of a Honda Accord parked on Peppertree Road was smashed, and a purse and bag of clothing stolen.

Purse on the curb. Reported at 7:13 p.m., a resident of the 2000 block of Golden Rain Road was unloading groceries from her car when someone stole her purse that was left on the curb. The purse contained cash, an ATM card and several credit cards.

March 21
Divorce connection. A Youngs Court man complained about harassment because a neighbor keeps taking his photo. Officers reported it pertained to documenting the man's activities in connection with a divorce case. Officers concluded there was no crime.

March 22
Bold burglary. Reported at 6:02 a.m., a house on Mi Elena Circle was entered while occupied through a broken back window. A purse was stolen. Credit cards from the pursue were subsequently used in Clayton. Police are investigating.

Bouncer harassment? Police are investigating a report that came in at 9:31 p.m. that the bouncer of a tavern on the 1400 block of Locust had harassed a woman, tearing her sweater, in the course of "kicking her out for no reason," police reported.

March 23
DUI. Reported at 2:05 a.m., a 23-year-old man was arrested for DUI after his Volkswagen Passat struck a parked car on Via Monte.

Multiple eggings. Multiple cars in the 1600 block of Carriage Drive were egged overnight.

Gun in ER. Reported at 5:47 p.m., there were conflicting reports of whether a patient in the emergency room at John Muir Medical Center brandished a gun or simply possessed a gun. Officers took the weapon for safekeeping.
