Widespread Power Outage Earlier in Downtown Walnut Creek

Outage appeared to be centered in the downtown area north of Mt. Diablo Boulevard around North Main and Locust streets.

7 p.m. We're hearing from police sources that power is back on... Still checking with PG&E on cause, extent.

As of 6 p.m., the outage was affecting up to 50 customers in Walnut Creek.

About 4:30 p.m. We're getting word from police and other sources that a widespread power outage has hit downtown Walnut Creek, and darkened lights and several major intersections, though in a "hit or miss" way. 

A PG&E outage map shows two outages, which were reported just after 2:11 p.m., were affecting up to 500 customers. As of 4:30 p.m., PG&E was still assessing the situation, and there was no word yet on the cause or when power would be restored.
