Bank Closing Worries Rossmoor Residents

Home Savings of America is under receivership of the FDIC, which has a website with info for depositors.

At the end of last week, the abrupt closing of Home Savings of America, with a branch on Tice Valley Boulevard, left some Rossmoor bank customers with a lot of questions.

With the closing of the small Minnesota-based bank, the receiver is the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. FDIC's website has some information for bank customers. The FDIC reports that it will mail directly to depositors checks for the amount of their insured money.

The closing on Friday was a cause of anxiety for many depositors, including those from the nearby Rossmoor retirement community, according to KCBS News.

Regulators on Friday closed Home Savings and another small bank in Georgia, bringing to 11 the number of bank failures this year, roughly half the number closed by the same date in 2011, according to the Huffington Post.
