The Walnut Creek City Council is scheduled to vote on a $135 million two-year budget when it meets on Tuesday evening.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. on the first floor of City Hall. The agenda can be found here.
The proposed 2012-2014 budget includes cuts to programs, layoffs and fee increases. It erases a projected deficit of more than $2 million.
There are a number of tough decisions the council must make Tuesday night.
The fee hikes under consideration include field rentals and administration decision appeals.
Potential program cuts include closing some counter services at city offices by one day a week.
The city has 51 fewer employees than it did in the 2006-2008 budget, but more layoffs are possible.
The council will also discuss how to pay for ongoing maintenance on city streets, city pools and other facilities.
