City Reviews Half-Marathon Comments

Analysis of residents' comments for Dec. 10 race will go to the City Council in January.

The city of Walnut Creek has received both criticism and praise for the first — maybe — annual Walnut Creek half-marathon.

took hundreds of runners from downtown out Ygnacio Valley Road, doubling back to finish at Civic Park.

City Manager Ken Nordhoff said the city received more than 30 comments from the public. Staff will analyze the comments and make a report at a January City Council meeting, Nordhoff said.

Resident Mark Blake came to the Dec. 20 council meeting to ask the city to reconsider the decision to stage the race. He said on Dec. 10 traffic was blocked on Ygnacio Valley Road.

"For the businesses out there it was a pain in the neck," Blake said.
