City Seeks Public Input On Smoking Rules

Walnut Creek is examining regulation of secondhand smoke in multi-family housing. Community workshop is 6:30 p.m. Thursday in third-floor conference room, City Hall.

The city of Walnut Creek has a community workshop Thursday evening to get input on new rules the city is exploring new rules to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke.

The workshop is scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the third-floor conference room of City Hall, 1666 N. Main St.

According to a Walnut Creek news release, the city is thinking of an ordinance to prohibit smoking:

  • In multi-family housing in indoor and outdoor common areas, balconies and patios within 20 feet of exterior entryways and ground-floor windows.
  • Inside new multi-family residential units, owned or rented.
